Das Werk basiert auf der Aufführung eines Instruction Piece aus dem Buch Grapefruit von Yoko Ono, Voice Piece for Soprano (1961). Der Schrei oder das Schreien – aus historischer Sicht meist als negativ und typisch weiblich konnotiert – wird hier von Musikern in männlicher Stimmlage in Hommage an Yoko Ono ausgeführt.
Die Aufzeichnungen wurden von einem Algorithmus in Notenblätter übersetzt, wobei für jede Zeile leicht variierende Möglichkeiten berechnet wurden. Die Musiker probten in ihren Studios eine mögliche Interpretation der Partitur auf ihren jeweiligen Instrumenten ein und erweiterten dabei auch die Möglichkeiten der unspielbaren Teile ihrer Partitur.
Die Videos zeigen die Musiker bei der Ausführung des Voice Piece sowie ihre Proben und Interpretation der übersetzten Schreie in ihren ausgewählten, jeweiligen Proberäumen.

Music Pieces for Voice Piece for Bass, Tenor and Baritone (after Voice Piece for Soprano by Yoko Ono)

The work is based on a performance of an Event Score by Yoko Ono, Voice Piece for Soprano (Grapefruit, 1961). The scream or the screaming – from a historical perspective mostly negatively connotated as typically female – is performed here by musicians with male vocal ranges, as a tribute to Yoko Ono.
The vocal performances are translated into music sheets by an algorithm-based note recognition program, calculating slightly varying notations for each performed scream. The musicians rehearsed a possible interpretation of the score in their studios on their respective instruments, extending also the possibilities of the unplayable parts of their score.
The videos show the musicians performing the voice piece as well as their rehearsals and interpretation of the translated screams in their respective rehearsal rooms.
